Why is ISUGA located in Quimper ?
ISUGA was founded in 1990 by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Quimper, mainly under the initiative of its general manager of this time, Christian Avenard.

Is ISUGA accredited by the State ?
Yes - at level II = French level "BAC+4": exact degree is "Chargé d'Affaires Europe-Asie".

What is the profile of ISUGA applicants ?
Applicants should have completed high schools studies, i.e. be at least at "A" level or equivalent, but not necessarily in business. Students with a background in Law or Foreign Languages are also welcome. It is utmost important to have a strong motivation for Europe & Asia economies and a taste for travel and adventure !

Who are the students ?
There is usually a mix of 50/50% European/Asian students, mainly French and Chinese. They have different profiles: with or without previous work experience, with or without prior education in business & management .... A fait level of English is required as ISUGA business courses are common courses taught in English.

What is the size of ISUGA ?
Each year about 50 to 60 new students are recruited ; as there are two years of studies, this means a total students headcount around 100/120.

With 3 or 4 years of higher education, can I access directly the 2nd ISUGA year ?
It is possible, but prior education should be in the field of business; alternatively a work experience of about 5 years in international trade is acceptable to enter the 2nd ISUGA year directly.

is it possible to study abroad during the program ?
All European ISUGA 2 students do spend their 1st semester with an Asian partner university : several places are available in China - Taiwan - Japan & India.

Is there any minimum level in Chinese or Japanese for a new European student ?
No. Beginners are accepted ; however some new students may have some previous knowledge of Chinese or Japanese : special advanced level classes are organized for these particular students.

Who are the partner companies of ISUGA ?
ISUGA has developped partnership agrements with companies who provide projects & intersnhips to students ; often jobs are available with these companies, too. All have an export / import activity between Europe & Asia.

Does ISUGA help for the internship prospection ?
Thanks to its network of partner companies, ISUGA may help in providing internhip proposals to its students. The network of alumni is as well a good source ; however students are encouraged to do this prospection on their own as this is a good commercial exercice.

Is there any accomodation on campus ?
There is a residence on campus with 66 single & double studios. There are other dormitories at a 30 minutes walking distance from the institute (or 10 minutes with public bus transportation). These residences are managed by a separate organization (OPAC).

Which kind of career is possible after graduating from ISUGA ?
Many career possibilities are available : a lot of sales & marketing positions do exist in relation with Europe - Asia trade. Another important source of jobs lies with purchasing / sourcing functions as there is more and more subcontracting out of Asia. In addition many complementary job opportunities are available in logistics / bank & finance / inspection ....

After ISUGA, can I study further (Master degree or "3rd University Cycle") ?
Yes, no problem. Many French and Asian graduates did attend a master course after ISUGA graduation. Several opportunities are available with ISUGA academic partners (see specific web page of this site with details about partners and their programs).

Is there a restaurant or a cafeteria on campus ?
No, just dispensers for cold / hot drinks and snacks. But opposite to the street lies UBO where all students have access and can get a meal for about 2.50 €. Moreover at a 5minutes walking distance, there is the large shopping centerl Géant where various restaurants / pubs / cafeterias are available.

What activities are available besides the academic courses ?
The students association is in charge of providing various sport & cultural activities. Social events and parties are frequently organized, too. Some examples: the Chinese New Year, the winter week in the mountains, films and disco on campus premises ....
Many sport activities are available in the Creac'h Gwen area :sailing, kayak, indoor and outdoor tennis ...
Nearby swimming pool is quite enjoyable, too : two pools, wave basin, saunas, solarium, jacuzzis and toboggan !

How to locate the institute ?
ISUGA is located in the Creach Gwen area nearby Quimper : by the river Odet, 12 kms from Bénodet and the coast. ISUGA is 2 kms distant from downtown but is well connected by public bus transportation (10 minutes trip).
